Backpack vs Basecamp

What are the main differences between Backpack and Basecamp? Both look great for organizing information and adding milestones to calendars. |

|
Basecamp is more focused on structured projects that involve large teams, backpack is more for information management and sharing. |

We already use Basecamp. Can you see a reason why a company would want to use both? |

We use both – Basecamp is for client communication and projects, Backpack for our internal use. |

I currently have basecamp and am currently considering getting backpack. For my needs, the “calendar” in basecamp doesn’t cut it. What I want to know is if you have basecamp and get backpack, how seemless is the communication between the two if there is any? How easy is it to go from one to the other or re they 2 completely different things? In other words Id like to have everything in one place, is there atleast a link the takes you from one to the other? thanks |

I use both: basecamp for tracking my large projects and backpack as a sort of “to-do” list using the GTD system. If you’re already using basecamp, backpack can still be useful for all the minor stuff that doesn’t really merit being made into a full blown project in basecamp. Also, you can throw all your personal stuff in there. As far as linking, you can use the calendar in backpack to subscribe to your basecamp projects using the ical feed (look on the backpack calendar page for more info and a video.) I’d love it if the calendar was integrated directly into basecamp, but that’s not the way it works right now. |
