OpenID and Open Bar come to Backpack!
Now the Open Bar includes your Backpack accounts! Now you have single sign-on for all your Basecamp, Highrise, and Backpack accounts. Log into any one of your accounts and you’re logged into all your accounts. Open Bar is a really useful way to quickly move between products. Plus, Open Bar remembers the last place you were when you left one account for another. This means when you return to the previous account you were using it will drop you right back where you left off. We hope you love it as much as we do. |

Wow! You guys are fast!! Thanks so much for all of your hard work on these apps. It really shows. |

Started using OpenId now with HR, Bascamp and Backpack and very impressed. I read on another forum that the OpenBar was hidden until you moused to the top of the screen. Mine is always there and takes up a small amount of screen althouhg on a wide screen it is quite noticable. had a look on the 37S openbar page but can’t see anything about this. Am I dreaming, has it changed or is mine not working right?! |
Hm, my openbar just appeared and it’s quite large and obscuring the links at the top of my backpack page (settings, account, etc). It’s much smaller in highrise and basecamp. But the functionality is GENIUS. No more three tabs open all the livelong day! |
Rich: Open Bar is always visible. What is hidden until rollover are your accounts if you have more than one per product. This is explained on the Open Bar page. Gayle: Clear your browser cache and force reload. |

That’s the one. Thanks jason. |
Awesome. |
Wow… finally! Still missing the open bar on my calendar page in backpack |
This is great! Really awesome. It’s worth noting that it seems that when you switch to openid the ical address for your reminders changes. At least mine did. |
The Openbar on Basecamp and Highrise doesn’t show the Backpack links for me right now. Does this make sense? |
I’m also seeing the same problem as Jamie. If I’m on my Backpack page I see my Highrise, Backpack, and Basecamp accounts in the OpenBar, but if I’m in Highrise or Basecamp, I can’t see Backpack on the OpenBar. |
1 more with the same problem as Jamie |
Have you tried logging out of Basecamp or Highrise? The bar will refresh if you log out and log back in. |
That worked for me. Thanks |
@Jason—that fixed me up to. Any plans to add Campfire to Openbar too? It’s the last, missing link. |
Thanks! |
Seems that I lost the ability to link my home page to other pages. I have done this in the past but can’t seem to figure out how to do in on new pages. I have a list of links at the bottom of my home page linking to my other pages but can’t add a new one. Help> Also these links don’t show up when sharing with others, can I do that? DB |
Campfire still the missing piece… And tadalist would of course be nice as well. |
Agreed, campfire integration would be awesome! |

I’ve successfully setup my OpenId/Openbar for Highrise & Basecamp, but every time I try to add OpenID to my Backpack account under account info and hit “save” it takes me to the www.myopenid.com website. I’ve cleared my cache and done forced reloads, but still no luck. I’m using Firefox 2 browser on Win XP machine. Any suggestions? |
@rthornton: Are you definitely signed in at MyOpenID.com? If not, then this may be why you’re taken there. |
@shehaal . . . yes, I’m definitely signed in. When it takes me to the MyOpenID.com site, I’m already signed into the MyOpenID page when it loads. Thanks for the thought, though |

Please disregard my 1st post . . . I’ve gotten it resolved. For some reason, I had to use the https:// with MyOpenID in Backpack even though I was able to sign in with MyOpenID at Basecamp and Highrise with an http:// URL. So after going back and switching all MyOpenID logins to https:// it seems to be working now. |
